Empowering South Sudan Through Partnership
Abukloi Foundation’s mission is to collaborate with the people of Rumbek to help them build their lives through education, community development, and gender equity. All programs are developed in partnership with administrators, donors, and local leaders and councils in the community and payams (local administrators) of Rumbek. It is vital that local perspectives direct programs so we respond to real — not just outwardly perceived — needs.
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
A global registry of voluntary policies, commitments, partnerships and other initiatives have been made by governments, the UN system and a broad range of stakeholders to support acceleration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our various programs and initiatives, at Abukloi Secondary School and throughout the region of Rumbek, South Sudan, have been modeled after and correlate directly to several of these SDG's.
SDG goals represented in our Y.E.S. Tailoring Project
- Reduces Poverty by creating pathways to future employment and entrepreneurship. (SDG 1)
- Supports Quality Education through hands-on vocational training and practical skills. (SDG 4)
- Advances Gender Equality by ensuring equal learning opportunities for girls and boys. (SDG 5)
- Prepares students for Decent Work and Economic Growth. (SDG 8)
- Supports Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by local production of school uniforms. (SDG 9)
- Reduces Inequalities by providing vocational training to expand opportunities for students who may have limited access to technical education or formal employment pathways. (SDG 10)
- Aligns with Responsible Consumption and Production by promoting responsible use of materials. (SDG 12)

- Strives towards No Hunger by providing our students with one meal a day. (SDG 2)
- Supports Good Health and Well Being through our school nurse and clinic that provides knowledge and care about illness and prevention. (SDG 3)
SDG goals represented in our Community Initiatives
- Promotes Clean Water and Sanitation through wells, latrines and water fountains being built at the school and in nearby communities. (SDG 6)
- Advances Life on Land through the cooporation with local villagers to develop sustainable gardens and farms that provides food all year long. (SDG 15)
